April 2008

Greetings Adventure Sports Enthusiasts!

What an awesome season! This ski season, a record breaker for overall snowfall (over 400 inches), was an absolute blessing and non-stop fun. Although it’s coming to an end this Sunday April 13th, there’s still plenty of fun to be had, including our all-inclusive snowshoe tours on Richmond Ridge at 11,300ft., featuring amazing late season powder conditions.

In addition, our 13th annual Sun Dog’s K-9 Uphill “A Snowshoe Event for Dogs and their People” will be held this Saturday the 12th at 10:00AM at Buttermilk Mountain. Grab your best friend and snowshoe, ski or hike up the mountain for a ton of family fun and a great cause; to benefit two local no-kill shelters and the SIMBA Fund. This unique event offers both Recreational and Competitive divisions, a BBQ lunch and Erik’s Epic Raffle, creating a veritable dog party. NEW this year: Dog and Owner Look Alike Costume Contest with prizes. Dress up with your K-9 teammate and enjoy some end of season fun in the snow and sun!

May is prime time for mountain biking in the desert, just two hours west of Aspen at the nation’s 7th rated mountain biking destination: Fruita, CO. Ladies can take advantage of our popular 12th annual Women’s Fruita Mountain Bike Camps in order to quickly gain new skills to experience the thrills of mountain biking. The weekend sessions are held on some of the most fun and scenic singletracks in Colorado and are very affordable too. Why take two years of trial and error to learn when you can make the same progression in two days?

NEW this spring: Sun Dog Athletics’ Canoe and Cruiser Tour TM, being offered during what promises to be one of the best snowmelt runoffs in Aspen’s history. This one-of-a-kind adventure offers you mellow flat water paddling through Northstar nature preserve, a healthy shoreline lunch followed by a short cruiser bike ride (approx. 3 miles) back to the launch site. This will be an ideal half day experience for one or two guests, who want to connect with the beauty of nature and top it off with some really enjoyable and stylin’ exercise.

Finally, some of the most thrilling news we’ve ever announced: the release of “Mountain Biking Skills and Thrills” an instructional DVD for beginner level mountain bikers, focusing on the key skills to quickly and safely learn this exciting sport. This nationally distributed DVD will be available through traditional outlets and by direct sales through us.

Please contact us for further details on any of the above mentioned opportunities via our contact information noted below.
Make it an awesome spring season!
