| Erik Skarvan has become "The Voice" for endurance events in Western Colorado over the past decade. As an adventure sports instructor and competitive athlete based in Aspen, CO since 1982, Erik's event announcing and event emcee expertise is wide ranging, including extensive knowledge of mountain bike racing, road bike racing, triathlon, running, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, skiing and in-line skating. His racing experience, competing in over 300 endurance events nationally, will bring exceptional insight and enthusiasm to your event. His 12 years of experience as a local television host of The Local’s Show and Aspen Today provides additional poise, professionalism and name recognition.
Erik has provided live event commentary at national events, including the
X Games, The NORBA National Finals, The Golden Leaf, The Owl Creek Chase and The 24 Hours of Aspen. He recently provided commentary for the Aspen Criterium (May’10 pictured here) for the third year in a row and hosted the official event dinner, featuring Colorado’s legends of cycling as a part of the Aspen Criterium/Aspen Cycling Festival weekend.
As an event/race announcer, Erik offers a very entertaining and informational style, calling every race with background information on the top competitors, race strategy and course information and announcing finishers with high energy and accuracy. He gives special attention to mentioning your event's sponsors, plays music to inspire your racers and spectators and handles any type of award and podium presentation.
If you prefer the dynamics of an event announcing team, Erik teams up with Mike Trecker, who has announced several endurance events with him over the years. Erik and Mike have a special rapport and lively banter, playing off each other’s knowledge and energy to the delight of organizers, spectators and racers alike.

Erik Skarvan also offers event hosting services, acting as Master of Ceremonies for banquets, weddings and fundraisers. This past year he was the event MC of the 350.org international climate awareness event, held locally at the base of Aspen Mountain in which he organized over 300 people to make the words "SAVE THE SNOW" for an aerial photograph. Talk about herding cats!
“You did a fine job. It was a pleasure working with you and will certainly keep your services in mind.”
